Unit Histories

The unit organizational histories preserved and presented here are from the library's Fire Support Research Collection. The majority of the histories are from American artillery units in the European Theater of Operations, World War II. These WWII histories trace the journeys of the units across Europe from country to country, battle to battle. These primary documents offer a fascinating glimpse into the organization and function of Division and Corps WWII artillery. The histories tell their stories by way of official reports, war diaries, letters, journals, maps, original drawings and photographs. We hope these histories help connect the present day artillery personnel to their past, foster espirit de corps and the continuance of Field Artillery traditions.
